Information We Collect

We only collect what's needed to deliver a personalised, meaningful experience for you and your marriage.

  • ✓Account information — email address and display name
  • ✓Profile details — your name, your wife's name, relationship preferences, love languages, location (country, city, postcode), budget preferences, and answers from the onboarding questionnaire
  • ✓Faith and lifestyle information — faith integration preference and dietary preferences (special category data, collected only with your explicit consent)
  • ✓Chat conversations and AI-generated plans you choose to save
  • ✓Subscription and payment status (processed entirely by Apple — we never see your card details)
  • ✓Device push notification token (only if you grant permission), delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging
  • ✓Anonymised usage data — how you interact with the app, collected via PostHog analytics

Data Security

We take security seriously. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Our infrastructure is hosted on Supabase, which follows industry-standard SOC 2 Type II security practices. We have Data Processing Agreements in place with all third-party processors.

We will never sell your personal data to third parties. Ever.

Third-Party Services

Stoke uses a small set of trusted services to deliver the experience:

  • ✓Supabase — secure database and authentication (SOC 2 Type II certified, data encrypted at rest and in transit)
  • ✓Anthropic (Claude) — AI model powering the assistant (your profile context is sent to generate responses, under a Data Processing Agreement)
  • ✓RevenueCat — subscription management via Apple App Store
  • ✓PostHog — anonymised product analytics
  • ✓Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — push notification delivery
  • ✓Apple / Google — account sign-in and payment processing

Each provider is bound by a Data Processing Agreement with Stoke App Ltd and their own privacy policy. Your data is never sold.

Some of these services are based in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK ICO.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights over your personal data:

  • ✓Access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
  • ✓Rectification — correct inaccurate data at any time in your profile settings
  • ✓Erasure — permanently delete your account and all associated data (Settings → Account → Delete Account)
  • ✓Portability — download your data in a portable format (Settings → Privacy & Data → Export)
  • ✓Object — opt out of analytics processing at any time (Settings → Privacy & Data)
  • ✓Restrict — ask us to pause processing while a dispute is resolved
  • ✓Withdraw consent — for faith/lifestyle data or notifications, at any time in Settings

To exercise any of these rights, email connect@stoke.chat. We will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is permanently erased within 30 days. Push notification tokens are deleted within 7 days of account deletion. Anonymised, aggregated data (not linked to you) may be retained for product improvement.

Children's Privacy

Stoke is intended exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at connect@stoke.chat and we will delete the account immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via push notification or email. The 'Last updated' date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Stoke after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
